The holiday season is quickly upon us and I'm in full party prep mode! Before we owned the boutique, we would often travel to see family out-of-town for Thanksgiving. Now that we participate in the downtown McKinney Home for the Holidays the weekend after the holiday, we stick around and celebrate Friendsgiving instead. Have you ever hosted Friendsgiving?
Disclosure: As a member of the Oriental Trading Fun Squad, I received compensation and/or products in exchange for my styling and crafting and styling services. As always, all opinions are my own.
The premise is basically the same, only without any family drama that may ensue! Not saying that we have family drama...but there always seems to be something!
We have hosted friends a few times and have gathered at other friends throughout the years as well. Our first Thanksgiving owning the boutique was spent decorating all day and we ended up eating turkey sandwiches from QuikTrip... ahh the joys of owning your own business! This year we spent the holiday with friends, feeling quite thankful for all we have and for our accomplishments over the past year.
Although I'm allllll about color on color for the boutique (hello lots of pink!), our home boasts a more modest color palette with shades of blue, green and beige.
My favorite detail of the dinner was the wishbone place cards - they eliminated the need to squabble over the real deal since everyone got a wish of their very own!
You can see more details of our Modern Farmhouse Friendsgiving over on the Oriental Trading Fun365 site here. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday whether you celebrate with family, friends or all the above!
