How do I reserve a party date?
When a party date and time has been selected, a $75.00 deposit is
necessary to secure your reservation. The deposit is non-refundable
and must be received at time of booking. Call 972-693-6141 to
make a reservation by phone. For your convenience, we accept
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
What days of the week can I have a
party?
Parties can be scheduled 7 days a week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
being our most popular party days. During the summer, you may
schedule a party Monday - Friday anytime as well as our regular
weekend time slots!! During the school year, our Monday -
Friday schedule is 4:30 - 6:00 or 6:30 - 8:00. Year-round, our
Saturday schedule is as follows; 10:30 - 12:00, 12:30 - 2:00, 2:30 -
4:00, 4:30 - 6:00 and 6:30 - 8:00. Our Sunday schedule is
12:30 - 2:00, 2:30 - 4:00 and 4:30 - 6:00.
I would like to visit your location before booking a party, what are
your store hours?
Typically, we are open Friday 4pm - 8pm, Saturday 10:30am - 8:00pm
and Sunday 12:30pm - 6:00pm for parties. Often, if Made of
Sugar and Spice is closed during the week, I can be found 2 doors
away at Walls of Clay, our sister company. We strongly recommend
calling or emailing to double check our hours; in the event there is
a change ~ we don't want to disappoint you. You are more than welcome to set up an appointment to
come see our party place at your convenience. Please call

establishment or stop by on the weekend while a party is in

How far in advance should I book my party?
We suggest booking parties at least 6 - 8 weeks in advance.
However, if you need a last minute date, please
call or
email to check availability.
If you find that we are completely booked, ask us about Walls of
Clay, a Paint-Your-Own-Pottery studio located just 2 doors away.
While it is not a "dress-up" type party - it is unique with lots of
different birthday party packages and is a great alternative.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check and major credit cards for deposits.
Checks are NOT accepted as final payment, please use cash or a
credit card when paying your balance at the end of the party.
When do you need the final count of guests?
A final headcount is required three (3) business days prior to the
party. An email will be sent the Wednesday prior to your party
date requesting a final head count.
What ages are your parties for?
Parties at Made of Sugar and Spice are designed for girls ages 4 and up,
although lately, we have had fabulous 3 year old Garden Fairy and/or
Princess parties. For
the younger girls (ages 3 - 6), we suggest the Garden Fairy Party,
Afternoon Tea Party, Princess
Party or Fancy Nancy Party. The Diva Rock Star Party and Posh Pet Party can be customized to fit any
age. The B Good 2 Me Spa Party is a great option for tween girls or ones that
have already had a princess/rock star party.
What if I have
twins, triplets or best friends that want to have their party
together?
Our packages are priced for a total of 9 girls, which typically
means 8 party guests plus the birthday girl. If you have
twins, triplets or friends that want to share a birthday party,
subtract the number of birthday girls from 9 to figure out how many
guests are included in the package price. Extra girls are
always welcome, the price per extra girl depends on the package.
For example, if you have twin girls, the package price will include
the twin birthday girls + 7 guests for a total number of 9 girls.
Likewise, if you have triplets, the package price will include
triplet birthday girls + 6 guests for a total number of 9.
How long is a party?
With the exception of the Tea Party, all parties are 1 and 1/2 hours
long. The Tea Party is 1 hour and 45 minutes. While we
are proud to celebrate ONLY ONE birthday at a time, our parties are
generally spaced only 30 minutes apart on the weekends. If
time permits, presents can be opened at our party place.
What happens if I have to cancel my party?
Once a deposit has been paid, parties may only be postponed once.
We will gladly work with you to find an alternate party date. If you
choose to cancel our services for ANY reason, your deposit is
non-refundable and cannot be applied to other services or
merchandise. If you need to postpone your party more than
once, your deposit will be forfeited.
What happens if the birthday girl becomes ill and I must
cancel?
If the guest of honor becomes ill, we will gladly work with you to
choose an alternate date for your party based on availability.
Your deposit is non-refundable, however we will apply it to another
party date and there is no penalty on your behalf!
Is there a minimum or maximum number of guests I can invite?
The package price is for 8 girls plus the birthday girl, who
is always FREE! If less than 8 attend your party, you will still
be charged for the same amount. Attendance over 8 guests will
be charged an additional rate per person. Additional charge per girl varies depending on the package, see
package details. Please consult Sugar & Spice for a maximum
number of guests, as we always try to accommodate your needs.
IMPORTANT: A service charge of $30 is applied to parties with 15
- 19 girls attending -or- a confirmed party of 15 - 19 girls.
Add a $50 service charge for parties with 20+ girls or a
confirmed party of 20+ girls.
What happens if a guest arrives late?
Our parties are packed with fun and follow a schedule. Guests who
arrive late may join the party at whatever point the party has
progressed to. For example, if the guests have already completed
makeup and hair and have started dancing, the late guest will skip
makeup and hair and join in the dancing.
What Should Party Guests Wear?
You may ask your guests to wear leotards, bodysuits or bathing
suits under their street clothes. These are preferred. We suggest including a note about this on the invitation.
However, if you have booked a Garden Fairy Party
ALL guests must wear a leotard or one piece bathing suit to the
party. Please note this on your invitations. Girls dress in
Couture Tutus and wings and therefore require a layer of clothing
underneath.
Can Other Parents and/or Siblings Stay for the Party?
Parents and other adults are always
welcome to stay, we've got seating for approximately 10 - 12
adults with standing room available. Made of Sugar
and Spice is
located in Historic Downtown McKinney with lots of shopping,
eateries and a lovely "Main Street" feel that is perfect for
strolling. Siblings must be supervised at all times in the front
of the shop with adults, unless they are one of
the guests. Siblings (of any age), who are not guests of
the birthday girl, will not be permitted to dress up or have make up
applied and hair done.
How is make-up applied and hair styled?
Makeup is
applied with disposable applicators. The same applicator is
never used twice, even on the same guest. Mascara and eyeliner
are not used. When styling hair, the Sugar and Spice Staff use anti-bacterial gel in-between guests. Combs and brushes are
not used. All clips, hair extensions, bobby pins, etc are for
each guest to keep, as they are never reused.
What do I need to supply?
The Cake! Parents are responsible for the cake, cupcakes,
brownies or the "sweet" of your choice.
Parents may also bring pizza or other food choice for "lunch" or
"dinner". If you want pizza, please let us
know in the beginning so that we can adjust our
schedule accordingly. Made of Sugar and Spice provides
children-sized tables and chairs along with paper and plastic
products such as plates, forks, napkins and cups. Sugar and
Spice
also supplies and serves a beverage to the guests.
Do you offer favors for guests?
Yes, quite often we supply the favors. Please ask us about our
favors and pricing. If you opt not to purchase favors from
Sugar and Spice, you are welcome to bring your own.
Do you accept
costume donations?
YES! With great enthusiasm we accept girl costumes, flower
girl dresses, dance recital outfits and other dress up items that
